Like many watch enthusiasts around the world, we are located away from famous "watchland" (i.e. Switzerland and Germany) and have to constantly refer to magazines, periodicals, internet and grapevines to equip ourselves with the latest horological developments. From time to time, we will travel to Europe to gather more information. Learning from our past experience and for the benefits of our customers, collectors and visitors, it is our primary objective to produce a one-stop website where you can understand all about German wrist watches (e.g. their history, brands, models, movements, prices, etc) and to discuss, buy or sell them without leaving the comfort of your home or office. Hope that you will benefit from our humble effort. For those who wants to understand how GWatch.com is created, please click =>HERE<= to find out more.

Why German and not Swiss? We simply prefer German wrist watches due to the following reasons:

1 ~ Small Production Quantity;
2 ~ Competitive Pricing;
3 ~ Watchmakers are Owners of their Brands;
4 ~ Occasional Use of Rare/Discontinued Calibres;
5 ~ Harmonious Dials;
6 ~ Innovative Display of Time;
7 ~ Swan-Neck adjustments; and
8 ~ Potential Appreciation in Prices; and so on.....

Over the last couple of years, we observe that the popularity of German wrist watches are fast catching up their Swiss rivals despite the absence of government support, lack of publicity and smaller production scale.

The German watchmaking industry also has an interesting history dated back to the 1840s. German wrist watch makers are seen as talented perfectionists and engineers but many of them lack the financial means to promote their products and were largely "ignored" by the watch community until they presented their products at the annual Basel exhibition. We are proud that German brands like A. Lange & Söhne, Glashütte Original, Chronoswiss and Martin Braun have penetrated the international watch market with their atractive/innovative products and constant marketing.

If you are looking to buy a German wrist watch, our advice to you is to consider the following advice :

How much should you pay? ......... This depends on a host of factors like demand, supply, quality, movement, production costs, after-sales services, branding, marketing cost, et cetera. Before your purchase, it would be wise for you to understand the production quantity per year, types of movement/calibre used (ETA, Unitas, Valjoux, Ronda, STT, etc), whether the movements are discontinued but carefully reconstructed or decorated (e.g. swan-neck adjustment), types of parts/components used (sapphire crystal, 316L stainless steel, etc) and where the parts are sourced (Germany, Swiss, China, Japan, etc). There are several German brands that offer good investment potential due to their rarity and such watches usually bear the name of their talented creaters. For example, those specially created by AHCI members like F.P. Journes, Frank Muller, Svend Anderson, Vincent Calabrese, Rainer Nienaber, etc. For a guide, the minimum price for a decent automatic watch with ETA2824-2/2834/2896 movement is USD300/-; a chronograph with Valjoux 7750/7751 movement is USD700/-; and manual winding Unitas-based watch is USD400/-. At GWatch.com, we sell quality German wrist watches at affordable prices.
