Change contributes to the nature of time

Those who were best able to strike a new "NOTE" in the singing schools at the end of the Middle Ages were honoured as Meistersinger.

Richard Wagner's opera, "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg", is inspired by this historical fact.

Stimulated by his conviction that an artist who genuinely wishes to create something new must first familiarize himself with all the important works of his own genre, Manfred Brassler, the creator of the MeisterSinger collection and a connoisseur and lover of old watches, has made a detailed study of the stylistic devices and features of watches from all epochs.

Indeed, his objective from the outset was to create a new wristwatch in a contemporary and clear language, while remaining true to the great horological tradition. A watch in a new image. He sought to strike the right "NOTE" at the dawn of a new era, yet without breaking with tradition.

This is how the SCRYPTO models from MeisterSinger, intended for people who like to draw on tradition and are forever receptive to a "new note", came into being.

The Designer

Manfred Brassler, founder and designer of MeisterSinger, had already attracted at lot of interest in the 1990s with his "Watch People" brand.

These wristwatches, with their close links to the tradition of the German Bauhaus School and with their high functionality and clear design - reduced to the bare essentials - were singled out by all the German design award panels of note.

In traversing the entire range of watch design in this way, Manfred Brassler has brought his experience of old watches to bear in the conception of modern designer watches.

In certain respects, MeisterSinger represents the quintessence of his long-standing involvement with watches.

Character

All MeisterSinger models get their extremely strong personality from rather subtle stylistic devices: the combination of sober numbering, with a preceding nought for the units and restrained typography, with the distinctive needle hands and the agreeably soft form of the case with its convex glass.

Uhrenmagazin comments in this connection on the high degree of appreciation of the details, which, although they may appear unspectacular in isolation, together account for the distinctiveness of every MeisterSinger watch.

Archaic

The unique Scrypto 1Z single-hand watch is worthy of particular mention.

A glance into the history of the dial reveals the major changes that have taken place in its design language.

The first pocket watches to be sold in significant quantities in the 18th. century had only a single hour hand, which at best permitted the time to be estimated to the nearest half hour or quarter hour - although this was entirely adequate in the pre-industrial age. There are occasions today when you can once again afford to be generous with time.

The archaic single-hand technology used in the MeisterSinger Scrypto 1Z - the first mechanical single-hand watch for more than 200 years - actually achieves something approaching reading precision with its functional scale and its needle hand.

Appeal

The convincing instrument character and the quality appeal of a MeisterSinger watch need to be experienced on your wrist. Convince yourself!
