Rainer Nienaber - A German Master in Wrist Watches and Clocks Rainer Nienaber is a member of the AHCI - the Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants. This organization was founded by Vincent Calabrese and Svend Andersen, and includes some of the most gifted and talented watchmakers in the world like Frank Muller, FP Journe and Paul Gerber. Rainer began his career as a specialized toolmaker, working with precision measuring equipment. In 1982, he opened a watch repair shop in Bünde, Germany. He quickly developed a flair for both wristwatches and mechanical clocks.  Because of his reputation as a master clockmaker, Rainer received the highest honor from his peers in 1993 when he was inducted into the AHCI. It was shortly thereafter that he turned his attention toward the design and production of wristwatches. He focused his attention to produce a series of wristwatches with King Size Dates and Numbers as well as complicated movements. Today, Rainer Nienaber produces both mechanical clocks and wristwatches in limited editions. Over the past years, he has developed a unique line of wristwatches, including sports models, elegant retrograde designs, and watches using vintage movements. His latest creation is a beautiful retrograde-regulator watch called Retrolator which was unveiled at Basle 2004.
